Working carers and workplace discrimination

2024-10-18 11:28:53

In recent years, studies have indicated that working carers feel stressed at work and are even discriminated against because of their caring role.

Research shows that almost 40% of working carers believe that discrimination is common in the workplace due to their caring role. Carers spend an average of 21 hours or more per week caring for those in need of care, balancing family and work commitments. At the same time, most of the professionals surveyed said that companies have failed to provide friendly policies and accommodations, making it difficult for them to balance family and work responsibilities.

Companies do not adequately educate their employees about family caregivers, which leads to discrimination in the workplace, difficulty receiving support and increased psychological pressure. And companies do not offer care-friendly measures, making it difficult for employees to reconcile family and work.

The association supports companies in introducing carer-friendly measures in the workplace to support the needs of family carers.
