In recent years, a local survey has been carried out to ask different categories of caregivers for their views on what they consider to be the most effective means of support:
In-service caregivers
Employer support is of paramount importance to working caregivers, including paid leave, a friendly working environment and related policies.
Senior Caregivers (60 years or older)
Elderly caregivers must bear the financial burden and family responsibilities of caring for their families, and they will often make their bodies unbearable. Therefore, caregiving services and allowances are the most effective support for them.
Low-income caregivers
Financial stress is the biggest burden for low-income caregivers, so financial support is effective in alleviating their stress.
Carers with spiritual needs
For caregivers with spiritual needs, it is important to find a balance between their mental health and their family responsibilities. Care and respite services give them time to look after their health and effectively support caregivers.
Different types of caregivers have different opinions and views on different ways to support them, and the community and government should formulate social policies that are suitable for different types of caregivers.
The association supports companies to implement carer support policies to meet the needs of carers.
