The importance of family and peer support

The importance of support from family and friends should not be overlooked, especially when caring for elderly, sick or disabled family members. Support from family and friends can help caregivers be more motivated on the caregiving journey.

1. Emotional support
Long hours of caregiving can be stressful and exhausting for caregivers. Emotional support from family members and friends can help caregivers feel understood and encouraged.

2. Help each other
Family members and friends can help the caregiver with some household tasks or take on caregiving shifts so that the caregiver has time to rest and take care of their own needs.

3. Sharing knowledge and resources
Family members and friends can provide caregivers with more relevant information about the care recipient or share information about support services and resources.
