Research Findings

How do the research results help to advocate for working caregivers in HK?

In 2022, Careers HK conducted a poll, with a number of 1,205, with the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care at Chinese University.

·     The study found that work and care responsibilities negatively spill over to the other party (negative spillover), adversely affecting the mental health of working caregivers.

·    If the company has a clear working policy that is friendly to working caregivers, the psychological quality of working caregivers will be better than that of no relevant policies.

·     Among the surveyed working caregivers, 90% of their companies did not have clear working policies that were friendly to working caregivers, and the surveyed employers also unanimously expressed the need for specific implementation assistance in implementing relevant policies.

Careers HK is committed to meeting the needs of working carers and employers, discussing the most appropriate friendly policies for working carers and enhancing corporate culture with employers and management, and providing different services and support for working carers on the other hand, so as to create a win-win situation for both parties.

Evidence-based on the concept of Careers HK

Japan and Taiwan have taken the lead in Asia to legislate for carers to take leave, while the issue of working carers in Hong Kong has been slow to move forward, and Tsing Tong Road will advocate more working carers support policies and related legislation in an evidence-based direction, so as to benefit working carers, enterprises and Hong Kong society as a whole in the long run.
